The college operates on the Semester Credit Hour (SCH) system with courses distributed between two 15 weeks semester in each academic year, plus a summer session , if need be. Attendance is compulsory & Is recorded at the start of each class. The registration Department monitors this record Closely. If a student's absence exceeds the allowed percent, he is denied the right to sit for the final exams and gets an “F” In that, course and he must repeat it. The main language in the college is English. Application Period (Pre-selection Application for admission to the College is usually open at the end of June; the college contacts the local newspapers & informs them of the time & place of exams. Selection of candidates who meet the conditions is based upon their scores in the Pre-Selection exam & interview. The Registration Dept calls the selected candidates for College admission, upon announcement of the results in the local newspapers and the college website, to inform them of the time of semester start & what they should do to finish their admission requirements. Service commitment The Student must sign a guarantee letter to work after graduation with a satisfactory salary not less than four years in any one of the MSD hospital for the Kingdom Specialty selection (for Diploma)_ Determination of specialties after the preclinical period according to: -A student CGPA -A student desire -The specialty vacancies. Specialty selection( for Bachelor) Determination of specialties starts at the beginning of study based on; -The student high school grade. -The student pre-selection score. - A student desire - The specialty vacancies. Diploma Duration of Study The duration of study in the diploma program is three years including 6 Months for the internship period. Bachelor Duration of Study The duration of study in the diploma program is four years in addition to 12 Months for the internship period. Assessment& Evaluation Each academic course is assessed according to evaluation methods which have been approved for the Saudi universities. Assessment of all college courses is split into two components: Continuous Assessment and Final Assessment a- Continuous Assessment: The continuous assessment for all courses may take the form of one or more of the following: Homework assignments, classroom tests, mid-semester examinations, practical tests. Continuous assessment contributes a minimum of 40% & a maximum of 60% of the final grade. b-Final Assessment: The final assessment for all courses is held at the end of each semester. The assessment itself covers every theoretical, practical and clinical aspect of the course and may take the form of one or more of the following: Written paper, Practical examination, Clinical examination, and Oral examination. GRADING SYSTEM Grades obtained by the student are calculated as follows
Overall Diploma Grade: The overall grade at the time of diploma graduation is based on the CGPA as follows: 1- (Excellent): if the CGPA is not less than 4.50 out of 5.00 2- (Very Good):if theCGPA is 3.75 to less than 4.50 out of 5.00 3- (Good): if the CGPA is 2.75 to less than 3.75 out of 5.00 4- (Pass) : if the CGPA is 2.00 to less than 2.75 out of 5.00
