Supreme Council

The Supreme Council shall be the principal executive and decision-making body of the college. The council shall have the supervisory authority over academic, research, financial, administrative and community affairs and are responsible for approving the general policy of the college.

About Supreme Council

  • The General Director of the General Directorate of the Medical Services of the Armed Forces will designate the members of the Supreme
    Council.
  • The Supreme Council shall consist of the following members:
    – The General Director of the General Directorate of the Medical Services of the Armed Forces
    – The General Director of the General Directorate of Administrative and Financial Affairs of Medical Services.
    – The Assistant of the General Directorate of the Medical Services General for Academic Affairs.
    – Director / Dean of Prince Sultan Military College of Health Sciences.
    – Two experienced and specialized faculty members from universities and other higher education institutions, with the rank of associate professor, at least, chosen by the Chairman of the council for a period of three years.
    – A representative of the Ministry of Education, who shall be chosen for a period of three years, as a renewable member.
  • The Supreme Council shall meet at least twice in the academic year by the invitation of the Chair. No decision shall be made unless at least two thirds of the members are present for the consideration of the relevant business, provided that the Chair or the Deputy Chair is among the
    members.
  • The Chair may call for an additional special meeting if required, or if a third of the members submitted a written request to meet.
  • The decisions of the council shall be reached by consenus if those members present, with the chair’s voice being as the deciding power if
    necessary.
  • The decisions of the Supreme Council are effective from the date of their approval.
  • In compliance with the Higher Education Council and universities system and regulations, the Supreme Council of the College supervises academic, research, financial, administrative and community affairs, and approves the general policy of the College. The Supreme Council shall exists to:
    – Develop the college policy in line with the general policy of the General Directorate of the Medical Services of the Armed Forces to achieve its vision, strategic goals and operational plans.
    – Determine the overall goals of the college from its vision and mission. Approve all college regulations.
    – Approve the college’s strategic plan.
    To approve the rules governing investment and enhancing the college own resources.
    – To approve the rules for issuing scientific journals.
    – To approve the college’s annual report.
    – To approve the academic degrees proposed by the College Board.
    – To set general policies for admission to the college.
    – To propose the establishment of branches of the college, departments, programs, research centers and deanships, and propose to amend, merge or remove it and submit this to the relevant authority for approval.
    – To grant Honorary Doctorates.
    – To approve the rules regulating scientific research, innovation, publication, translation and publishing.
    – To approve the college’s estimated budget.
    – To discuss the college’s final financial report.
    – To accept donations, gifts, contributions, and others, provided that this does not contradict the basic purpose for which the college was established.
  • To review the issues referred to the Council by the chair of the council, the Director/ Dean of the College, or that any member of the council
    proposes to discuss.
    – The council has the right to delegate some of its authorities to the Council chair, the Director / Dean of the College, or any other councils
    or committees in the college.
    – The executive body in the College takes responsibility for all relevant implementation procedures.
    – The Council may seek the assistance of those it deems appropriate to accomplish the tasks assigned to it in accordance with the regulations.
    – The council may form permanent or temporary committees from
    among members or others to carry out tasks assigned to them.
