The institutional purpose of the Prince Sultan Military College of Health Sciences is to provide qualified students of diverse backgrounds with an excellent medical education within an atmosphere of academic integrity and scholarship that fosters the highest standards in professional ethics and competence. The college is dedicated to develop students with a lifelong commitment to patient care centered research, public / private health and community service.

The principal function of the College is to educate and train High School Graduates (Science Stream), in order to become qualified medical technicians and serve in the different applied medical jobs of the Medical Services Divisions, and conducting military courses for (Officers, NCOs and Civilians) in several fields.

1. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Upon graduation from the Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) Program as an effective caregiver, the Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic) will demonstrate the following competencies:
• Physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared to provide Emergency Medical Care; respond to the scene in a safe and timely manner and assess the scene of a medical or trauma emergency considering issues of safety.

• Be active in the local community by supporting efforts and assuming a leadership role to improve primary care and citizen involvement in the Emergency Medical Service System.
• Participate in personal and professional development programs.

• Exercise personal judgment in case of interruption in medical direction caused by communication failure or in cases of immediate life-threatening conditions where such emergency care has been specifically authorized in advance.

• Practice their job in compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards.

2. AIMS

• The department offers diploma program in Emergency Medical Technology (Paramedics Level).

• The program aims to provide learning opportunities to develop student competencies in patient assessment, management of a variety of external and internal injuries, medical, cardiac, obstetrics and gynecology emergencies, as well as geriatric, neonatal and pediatric emergencies and emergency vehicle operations. It also emphasizes the development of student skills in performing the proper procedures when rendering emergency medical care to trauma or medical cases.

• The EMT department also runs short courses to prepare and train our students, civilian, military physicians and paramedics, to pass the BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS courses.

• We also  cooperate with the training department of King Fahd Military Hospital in conducting BLS and ACLS courses

3. EMPLOYMENT PROJECTION FOR GRADUATES

Our graduates have the skills to provide pre-hospital trauma, medical, cardiac, paediatrics, obstetrics, gynaecology, and geriatric life support.They have employment opportunities in ambulance services, emergency room (ER) in hospitals, medical clinics, fire departments, and private industrial clinics.          


4. HIGHER EDUCATION PROSPECT FOR GRADUATES

Our graduates of EMT Diploma Program will be given the opportunity to Bachelor Degree after success in bridging program. This could be done either abroad or in PSMCHS when we start the bachelor program which is in the pipeline.

AIMS AND GOALS:-

This program is designed to prepare qualified emergency medical workers to become Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedics). The program aims to develop student competencies in patient assessment, basic and advanced life support, and emergency vehicle operation, management of the variety of internal injuries, external injuries, obstetric emergencies, as well as neonatal and pediatric emergencies. It also emphasizes the development of student skills in recognition of signs and symptoms of illness or injury, and the use of proper procedures when rendering emergency medical care.

The student will receive progressive in-depth training in assessing, interpreting, and providing advanced life support to the critically ill or injured.
