The institutional purpose of the Prince Sultan Military College of Health Sciences is to provide qualified students of diverse backgrounds with an excellent medical education within an atmosphere of academic integrity and scholarship that fosters the highest standards in professional ethics and competence. The college is dedicated to develop students with a lifelong commitment to patient care centered research, public / private health and community service.

The principal function of the College is to educate and train High School Graduates (Science Stream), in order to become qualified medical technicians and serve in the different applied medical jobs of the Medical Services Divisions, and conducting military courses for (Officers, NCOs and Civilians) in several fields.

1.  OBJECTIVES

Upon graduation, the nurse shall be able to:

• Provide nursing care and support to a variety of individuals and communities by following the nursing profession.

• Practice nursing in compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards.

• Participate actively in the promotion and maintenance of health, and the prevention of illness among individuals and communities.

• Use a problem-solving approach in performing nursing functions.

• Maintain a safe and healthy environment to promote health and prevent diseases.

• Perform self-evaluation and be accountable for her/his actions.

• Participate actively in professional nursing organizations for self-development purposes.

• Stay well-informed regarding new discoveries and trends influencing the performance of nursing care.

• Take responsibility for her/his own personal growth and development.

2.  AIMS

The department aims is to provide learning opportunities that will enable the student to be a competent, reliable, and skillful nurse who is able to administer nursing care independently and in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.


3.   EMPLOYMENT PROJECTION FOR GRADUATES

The Nursing Diploma Program has been designed to prepare graduates to meet international nursing standards of care for individuals and the community within Saudi Arabia, and to qualify Saudi nurses to meet the demand for a steady supply of well-trained nurses in the Medical Services Division hospitals (MSD) and kingdom-wide. 

Graduates of this Program will work collaboratively with and under the direction of higher-level, senior nurses and other members of healthcare team.  Through their obtainment of practical skills and theoretical scientific knowledge of the needs of human beings, they can assist individuals and groups of all ages in various health settings.


4.  HIGHER EDUCATION PROSPECT FOR GRADUATES

Outstanding graduates of the Diploma Nursing Program will be given the opportunity to enroll in a baccalaureate program upon graduation at PSMCHS and other nursing colleges within the Kingdom.
