Introduction
The Bachelor of Science in Anesthesia Technology Program at Prince Sultan Military College of Health Sciences (PSMCHS), is designed to prepare Saudi graduate Anesthesia Technology Specialist to provide basic, essential anesthetic care to the community. They work in accredited General Hospitals, Community Hospitals, and Specialty Medical Centers under anesthetists’ supervision.
The teaching method in the AT Departments is consists of a combination of theoretical coursework and practical which is conducted with specimens and manikins in the lab, followed by clinical management of patients in the hospitals.

Anesthesia Technology program seeks to graduate Anesthesia Technology Specialist to work as integral members of the anesthesia patient care team. Their role is to assist the anesthetists with patient assessment, preparation, and application of various equipment and supplies required for the delivery of anesthesia care. This might be performed in a variety of clinical settings including the operating room, interventional and diagnostic radiology, post-anesthesia care unit, cardiac catheterization lab, and endoscopic suites.

Bachelor of Anesthesia Technology program: five years (one year of preparatory – three years of specialization – one year of Internship )

- Demonstrate the knowledge of the basic medical science essentially required to anesthesia technology practice.
- Acquire sufficient knowledge of anesthesia principles in a variety of surgical and medical related procedures
Skills:
- Practice effectively the skills needed in anesthesia technology field for patient/OR preparation.
- Communicate with patients, families, the public, and other healthcare professionals for collaborative anesthesia care.
- Manipulate Anesthesia equipment and devices used for the different surgical/medical procedures
- Use numerical and updated information technology for calculating drug doses, fluid/solutions in addressing proper anesthesia management.
- Integrate principles of anesthesia using critical thinking, analytical problem solving and decision-making skills to develop effective anesthesia management plans.
- Conduct evidence-based anesthesia research projects derived from community health needs and projection of feasible solutions.

Anesthesia technology Bridging program seeks to open up new educational opportunities, offer higher training, which will contribute to reduce the delay of specialized surgery, due to the lack of skilled, competent staff in the anesthesia department by the successful placement of the graduates.
